Andrew Knights

Andrew graduated from QUT in 1979. After working 3 years in Perth and one year in Brisbane, he established his own practice in Beenleigh in October 1983.

Andrew is interested in all areas of general optometric practice although his main areas of interest are in gas permeable contact lenses (particular for keratoconus and post corneal grafts) and ocular pathology. Over the past 15 years Andrew has detected many interesting anomalies and as a side interest has amassed a large collection of photographs of various conditions of the retina.

Andrew believes in providing a high standard of service and ethics within his practice. Andrew and his team strive to provide quality service utilising state of the art equipment, information and products.

Away from the practice, Andrew is a family man with a wife and two young boys. He also enjoys sailing and is a regular participant and handicapper at the Wednesday Afternoon Gentleman Sailing at the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron. He has developed the infamous "Black Magic Handicapping System" used exclusively at WAGS races.

Qualifications: Diploma of Applied Science - Optometry 1979., Certificate in Diagnostic Drugs 1990., Certificate in Therapeutic Drugs 1995.

Nicola Redmond-Knights

Nicola completed her qualifications in Psychiatric Nursing at Tokanui Hospital in New Zealand. After several years of nursing Nicola decided to take a trip to the U.K. She got as far as Australia before she met and married her husband of 14 years, Andrew.

She completed her General Nursing Degree in 199 and worked as a facilitator for Griffith University for two years. She balanced this with practice managment duties at the practice in Beenleigh as well as home duties with Andrew and looking after their two boys Christopher and Stephen.

Nicola has been the practice manager of Andrew Knights Optometrists for almost ten years. During this time, she found herself more interested in the field Optometry and decided to enroll in the Bachelor of Applied Science - Optometry at QUT.

Outside optometry, Nicola enjoys reading murder mystery novels and going to the movies.

Qualifications: Bachelor of Nursing., Bachelor of Applied Science - Optometry 2002 as well as

a Bachelor of Arts. She recently completed her grad cert in ocular therapeutics.
